When the people in the churches of America saw that Jesus was so long in coming back to deliver them, they went to their pastors and said, “Come, make us gods who are easier, more practical and beneficial to us and our families. Let us embrace humanism, psychology, ‘word of faith’ power and prosperity gospel. Let us create our own signs and wonders and hold hands with diverse religions to demonstrate unity and acceptance of all. As for Jesus, we don’t know where He is and who he is any longer.”
The pastors answered, “Take the money you set aside to raise and educate your children, to help the poor on the street, the orphans and the widows, the persecuted missionaries. Bring it so that we can use it here for a much greater purpose.” So, the people took money they set aside for necessity and charitable works and brought it to the leaders of the ever-expanding church complexes. The pastors took what the people handed them and made idols cast into the shape of luxurious buildings, onsite gyms, religious boutiques, guest accommodations, and for themselves, mansions on hills, fast cars and even faster planes. Then they said, “Comfort, riches, good health, unity with other religions, harmony with the environment are all God’s will for your life. He has called you out of Egypt to bless you with good health and prosperity.”
When the pastors saw that what they built increased the size of their congregations, they were delighted and said “Tomorrow we will hold a worship service to thank God for our many blessings.” The next day, the people rose up and gathered friends and family, eager to donate more money and bow down to new-found idols. Together, they sang loudly and danced down the aisles at the beat of a worldly style of worship.
Then the Lord said to a remnant of His people, “Warn the pastors and their congregations that they, who were brought out of Egypt to serve and worship Me in Spirit and in truth, have become apostate. They have turned away from Me and made idols for themselves saying, ‘This is the new Gospel message for our generation. God brought us out of captivity and delivered us from bondage to offer us a religion of comfort, health and prosperity.”
The Lord said, “They are a proud and stubborn. My anger burns against them. I am prepared to destroy them and see my children rise up from the ashes.”
But the remnant pleaded with the Lord and said: “Lord, why should your anger burn against those whom you set free from bondage? Why should witnesses of your destruction say, ‘Why would God rescue them from Egypt only to destroy them now?’. Today, O Lord, turn from your fierce anger and do not bring disaster down. Remember that some in the congregations are truly circumcised at heart. To them, you have promised to ‘never leave them nor forsake them’. Remember when you said:
‘For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” God heard their pleas and did not bring disaster upon the congregations.
After their intercession, the children of God sought to go to the churches to invite them to return to the Father and embrace Jesus’ commandments:
the first and greatest one being ‘to love the Lord God with all their heart and with all their soul and with all their mind’; the second one being ‘to love their neighbor as themselves’.
These are the instructions given by Jesus to the children of God.
But in the congregations, the irreverent singing, the ‘soaking’ in false peace, and the worship of health & prosperity idols went on. When the remnant saw these things and recognized how unacquainted the people had become with God, their hearts tore in sadness and disbelief. So, they cast down idols in the name of Jesus, spoke up against false teachings, instructed, warned and prayed for the deliverance of the people.
They even appealed to pastors, saying: “What did the congregations do to you, that you have led them so astray?”. The pastors answered. “You know how prone these people are to evil. They are the ones who asked for these things. They wanted gods that are easier to serve, a religion that is more practical, less divisive and more beneficial to ‘self’ and families. As for Jesus, they don’t know where He is or who He is anymore”.
As the people continued to run wild, led by their pastors and by counterfeit spirits, the remnant stood there and appealed: “Whoever is truly of the Lord and for the Lord, come with us.” And the circumcised at heart left the congregations and rallied with the children of God.
Then the remnant said to them, “our Shepherd and our Savior Jesus Christ said:
‘If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.’
Those who joined God’s children were tested in their faith. After that, the remnant said: “You have been set apart for the Lord, for you left your own sons and brothers to serve Him. He has blessed you this day.”
To the people who stayed behind in the congregations, the remnant said, “You are committing a great sin by not heading to the warnings. But we will go to the Father in the name of Jesus and continue to intercede for you”. And the remnant did as they promised and asked God to “please forgive the people lest they be blotted out of the Book of Life.”
P.S. the Fellowship of Saints is critical and we must try our best to find and become part of a church that preaches the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. But these churches are few and far between. So dear brethren, pray, ask for discernment and use Scriptures to assess the teachings (like the Bereans did).
